"Good people sleep peaceably in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf."

RIP: A note from Barbara Zerr Wylie - by Mark | February 20, 2009, 07:38:04 PM
I laid my husband to rest last Thursday.   He suffered from so much pain.   Had fought Colon cancer for 14 years but it kept coming back and the last time blocked his stomach so he was unable to eat anymore.  Liquids were the only things he could have and so----he literally starved to death.   He graduated from Normandy High School and went to Missouri School of Mines and Metalurgy in Rolla, MO.   We were married June 4, 1949.  Would have been 60 years this coming June.  love and hugs to all the Zerr families.    Barbara Zerr Wylie

Rest In Peace.

We are such slackers - by kim | December 19, 2008, 03:36:18 PM
So its been almost 6 months and I have finally gotten pictures up of the boys.  Jesse has had his 18 month checkup and all is well with him.  He is currently cutting his 4th molar, so hes been a pain.  He has the front four in on the top and bottom, and 4 molars, but is missing the 2 between the front teeth and the molars on both sides and the top and bottom.  Guess he decided he needed those molars in so he could chew his food better..Wink
He is weighing in at 24lb and 13oz, and is 31inches long.  Short and stocky it looks like..Wink
Wyatt is LOVING preschool.  He potty trained pretty quick, even though we had some setbacks, but its all good now.  Bribery works wonders it would seem with my son.  He really enjoys going to preschool, and i enjoy easy nap time for Jesse.
Mark is keeping really busy with Rockwell.  He occasionally has to travel to Florida with his job.  Even though he says he misses us, I'm sure its not so bad having a hotel room right off the beach, and fresh seafood every night for dinner..Wink
We finally got family pictures taken.  It did not turn out quite as well as i had hoped but it was hard keeping the boys on track and trying to keep focused on the photographer at the same time.  Hopefully next time it will go a bit smoother.
Christmas is almost here and still we do not have our cards mailed out.  I hope to get them out before christmas actually gets here but some may get it later then that.
Hope everyone has a lovely holiday season.

The boy's had a well check visit - by kim | July 24, 2008, 12:52:33 PM
Today we went to the doctor and the boys got their 3year and 1 year well check visits.  Jesse got 4 shots and Wyatt got no shots.  Jesse screamed a bit but calmed down shortly thereafter.  Wyatt did not care to do anything the nurses or doctor wanted to do, so we had to do it the hard way with him screaming the whole time.  Wyatt's stats are 31 lbs (we had to weigh me and him then just weigh me to get his weight), and 37.5 inches tall.  He is 50% for both stats.  Jesse is 22lbs 12.5 oz and 29.25 inches tall.  This puts him at about 50% for weight and 75% for height.  They are both doing well, and are progessing normally skill wise.  Jesse is just about running now, and tries very hard to keep up with his brother.  He has a bunch of booboo's to prove it.  I keep wanting to have a family picture done, but every time I start to get something schedualed, Jesse face plants on the concrete and scrapes himself up really good.
All is well here.  Mark is working hard at Rockwell and I am keeping the boys in check at home.  We have a pretty good schedual going during the day and come fall Wyatt will be starting a preschool, which one he goes to will depend on if he decides to potty train by then or not (oh hes being stubborn).

There are new pictures of the boys up, as well as our family vacation in june to missouri and the boy's birthdays.

“Where the hell is Matt (2008)?” - by Mark | June 21, 2008, 11:36:46 AM
Sometimes when I am really down on life, politicians, and the state of the world's most disgusting regimes and people....I run across something on the Internet that seems to really brighten my day.  This video sure did it today.  For background on Matt see here and here.

UPDATE: Repulsive....Turns out to be a hoax....Or is it? - by Mark | April 17, 2008, 08:24:59 AM
This disgusting beast of a human being calling herself an artist is doubling down and re-claiming the original story is true.  She is claiming the Yale Press Release, claiming the whole project was a hoax, is not true.  Either way this is a disgrace to the university, and this "artist" has some serious mental issues.
Shvarts stood by her project, calling the University’s statement “ultimately inaccurate.”…

But Shvarts reiterated Thursday that she repeatedly use a needleless syringe to insert semen into herself. At the end of her menstrual cycle, she took abortifacient herbs to induce bleeding, she said. She said she does not know whether or not she was ever pregnant.

“No one can say with 100-percent certainty that anything in the piece did or did not happen,” Shvarts said, “because the nature of the piece is that it did not consist of certainties.”

This afternoon, Shvarts showed the News footage from tapes she plans to play at the exhibit. The tapes depict Shvarts — sometimes naked, sometimes clothed — alone in a shower stall bleeding into a cup.

That is art?  What a disgusting human being.

Turns out this one is a "performance art" hoax....and the artist never actually aborted any fetuses....I am not sure this news makes the original story any better.  Basically, this "artist" has admitted to be a ghoulish provocateur who thinks art is anything demeaning to human life.  Disgusting.  Here is the statement from a Yale University spokesman:
Statement by Helaine S. Klasky — Yale University, Spokesperson
New Haven, Conn. — April 17, 2008

Ms. Shvarts is engaged in performance art.  Her art project includes visual representations, a press release and other narrative materials.  She stated to three senior Yale University officials today, including two deans, that she did not impregnate herself and that she did not induce any miscarriages.  The entire project is an art piece, a creative fiction designed to draw attention to the ambiguity surrounding form and function of a woman’s body.

She is an artist and has the right to express herself through performance art.

Had these acts been real, they would have violated basic ethical standards and raised serious mental and physical health concerns.

But since they were fake....everything is cool, according to a major ivy league university.  Have they no shame?

Art major Aliza Shvarts '08 wants to make a statement.

Beginning next Tuesday, Shvarts will be displaying her senior art project, a documentation of a nine-month process during which she artificially inseminated herself "as often as possible" while periodically taking abortifacient drugs to induce miscarriages. Her exhibition will feature video recordings of these forced miscarriages as well as preserved collections of the blood from the process.

"I believe strongly that art should be a medium for politics and ideologies, not just a commodity," Shvarts said. "I think that I'm creating a project that lives up to the standard of what art is supposed to be."

The display of Schvarts' project will feature a large cube suspended from the ceiling of a room in the gallery of Green Hall. Schvarts will wrap hundreds of feet of plastic sheeting around this cube; lined between layers of the sheeting will be the blood from Schvarts' self-induced miscarriages mixed with Vaseline in order to prevent the blood from drying and to extend the blood throughout the plastic sheeting.

Schvarts will then project recorded videos onto the four sides of the cube. These videos, captured on a VHS camcorder, will show her experiencing miscarriages in her bathrooom tub, she said. Similar videos will be projected onto the walls of the room.

Have you know shame treating human life like pure garbage?

Greatest sport in history invented in Japan - by Mark | April 11, 2008, 08:32:03 PM
Only the Japanese could come up with the most insanely awesome sport ever invented.  The only way it could be improved is if every car had a flamethrower.

New pictures of the boys - by kim | April 09, 2008, 08:53:27 PM
We have more pictures up of the boys, under Wyatt, Jesse and Wyatt & Jesse.  Life is going here in Iowa.  Mark is almost finished with his big project, so he is home more.  The boys are doing good.  Wyatt is growing bigger, regardless of the fact he exists on air and chocolate milk.  His speech is improving by leaps and bounds.  Jesse is getting bigger also.  He can stand up on his own, without any furniture to pull up on.  He is still not walking.  He has taken a few steps on his own, but prefers to just drop down and crawl.  If you hold his hands he'll walk for a ways, and he LOVES his push toys outside.  Baby
