I am a descendant of Johannes Conrad Zerr, born in Mittelwhir, Alsace, France.  I am a 8th generation Zerr.  My family came to Texas in the 1840's. I think we have relatives in Canada, since many names coincide with ours.  Any information would be appreciated.

There were Germans settled in Odessa, Ukraine who then emigrated to South Dakota.  Some had the name Zerr.  There was a famous Catholic Bishop in Odessa, Anton Zerr.  It says the German settlers came from all over south Germany, even Switzerland.

See catholic encyclopedia, p. 739, "Anton Zerr" c. 1902

Remember there are a lot of Catholic and possibly also Jewish Zerr persons who emigrated from Odessa, Ukraine to Aberdeen, South Dakota c. 1800s.  Some of my relatives came to Vanport, OR & then settled in greater Seattle area and all over WA.

My Grampa John Zerr was from Harvey ND, originally from Canada. I am working on his family tree and found this site while doing it.
Tried to register but it doesn't work...no letters to see to type and nothing to hear when you click on that spot either. Try again later.

Hello all you crazy Zerrs,
This is Marian Burgard Thompson's grandson. Some of you may have knew her when she was still alive living in Bowbells, North Dakota. Her children are Tom, Don and Delores (Lussenden).

I would like to suggest all of the Germans from Russia who are interested to visit the historical centre in Lincoln, NE. It's excellent.

I really enjoyed this site, but it seem like this is a whole different family. I know not one person and I knida felt left out. Also, I would like to set up a family tree to see how far back I can trace my roots. Do you know an easy (and free) way to get this information?
