UPDATE: Repulsive....Turns out to be a hoax....Or is it? - by Mark | April 17, 2008, 08:24:59 AM
This disgusting beast of a human being calling herself an artist is doubling down and re-claiming the original story is true.  She is claiming the Yale Press Release, claiming the whole project was a hoax, is not true.  Either way this is a disgrace to the university, and this "artist" has some serious mental issues.
Shvarts stood by her project, calling the University’s statement “ultimately inaccurate.”…

But Shvarts reiterated Thursday that she repeatedly use a needleless syringe to insert semen into herself. At the end of her menstrual cycle, she took abortifacient herbs to induce bleeding, she said. She said she does not know whether or not she was ever pregnant.

“No one can say with 100-percent certainty that anything in the piece did or did not happen,” Shvarts said, “because the nature of the piece is that it did not consist of certainties.”

This afternoon, Shvarts showed the News footage from tapes she plans to play at the exhibit. The tapes depict Shvarts — sometimes naked, sometimes clothed — alone in a shower stall bleeding into a cup.

That is art?  What a disgusting human being.

Turns out this one is a "performance art" hoax....and the artist never actually aborted any fetuses....I am not sure this news makes the original story any better.  Basically, this "artist" has admitted to be a ghoulish provocateur who thinks art is anything demeaning to human life.  Disgusting.  Here is the statement from a Yale University spokesman:
Statement by Helaine S. Klasky — Yale University, Spokesperson
New Haven, Conn. — April 17, 2008

Ms. Shvarts is engaged in performance art.  Her art project includes visual representations, a press release and other narrative materials.  She stated to three senior Yale University officials today, including two deans, that she did not impregnate herself and that she did not induce any miscarriages.  The entire project is an art piece, a creative fiction designed to draw attention to the ambiguity surrounding form and function of a woman’s body.

She is an artist and has the right to express herself through performance art.

Had these acts been real, they would have violated basic ethical standards and raised serious mental and physical health concerns.

But since they were fake....everything is cool, according to a major ivy league university.  Have they no shame?

Art major Aliza Shvarts '08 wants to make a statement.

Beginning next Tuesday, Shvarts will be displaying her senior art project, a documentation of a nine-month process during which she artificially inseminated herself "as often as possible" while periodically taking abortifacient drugs to induce miscarriages. Her exhibition will feature video recordings of these forced miscarriages as well as preserved collections of the blood from the process.

"I believe strongly that art should be a medium for politics and ideologies, not just a commodity," Shvarts said. "I think that I'm creating a project that lives up to the standard of what art is supposed to be."

The display of Schvarts' project will feature a large cube suspended from the ceiling of a room in the gallery of Green Hall. Schvarts will wrap hundreds of feet of plastic sheeting around this cube; lined between layers of the sheeting will be the blood from Schvarts' self-induced miscarriages mixed with Vaseline in order to prevent the blood from drying and to extend the blood throughout the plastic sheeting.

Schvarts will then project recorded videos onto the four sides of the cube. These videos, captured on a VHS camcorder, will show her experiencing miscarriages in her bathrooom tub, she said. Similar videos will be projected onto the walls of the room.

Have you know shame treating human life like pure garbage?

Stalinist UK? "UK may require a 'license to smoke' permit" - by Mark | February 15, 2008, 10:31:37 PM
Smokers could be forced to pay £10 for a permit to buy tobacco if a government health advisory body gets its way.

Stalinist ideology, always wrong, yet always on the march.  This from Great Britian?  The world is entering a crisis, when a supposed democratic beacon like the UK considers proposals like this.  What ever happened to freedom and personal responsibilty?

Surviving a 30,000 ft fall? - by Mark | January 20, 2008, 04:50:17 PM
Holy snikies Batman.

It's a modern-day miracle. An Ecuadoran native who fell 500 feet from the upper reaches of a New York City skyscraper--and survived. By the time Alcides Moreno hit the alley behind the black-glass luxury apartment building, he was traveling upward of 124mph. Only about half of the people who fall off a four-story building make it. So how is it possible that Moreno is alive?

The answer has a lot to do with physics, luck and a 16-foot plank.
Amazingly, Moreno's experience does not rank at the top of the list of survivals from extreme heights. Three airmen in World War II fell 20,000 to 30,000 feet and survived. A Yugoslavian flight attendant named Vesna Vulovi survived a 33,316-foot plunge when a Czech flight exploded in midair (the Guinness Book of Records recognizes her for surviving the greatest fall without a parachute).

"Honey....my plane blew up at 33,000 feet and I fell to my death....but guess what I am still alive!"  That Vesna is one very lucky woman...no lottery winnings for her.

What is Evil? - by Mark | November 27, 2007, 09:38:34 PM
Have you ever wondered if Evil truly exists?  Never doubt it again.

The details in an arrest affidavit paint a chilling picture of the girl's last days. In a statement to police included in the affidavit, Trenor, 19, said she and Zeigler, 24, killed Riley July 24.

The girl was beaten with leather belts, had her head held underwater in a bathtub and then was thrown across a room, her head slamming into a tile floor, the mother said in the document. She said they kept the body in a storage shed for one to two months before they put it in a plastic bin and dumped it into Galveston Bay.

F*cking Evil Monsters....burn in hell.

Rest in Peace, Riley Ann Sawyers, you are truly in a better place now than being forced to live with the monsters whom killed you here on Earth.  Riley was only 2 years old and her picture brought tears to my eyes.

Dedication Defined - by Mark | November 25, 2007, 09:13:36 PM
This story is simply awe-inspiring.  Just think if only everyone had half as much dedication as these people have?

Few have been granted permission to see these marvels.

Indeed, the Italian government was not even aware of their existence until a few years ago.

But the 'Temples of Damanhur' are not the great legacy of some long-lost civilisation, they are the work of a 57-year-old former insurance broker from northern Italy who, inspired by a childhood vision, began digging into the rock.

You must click through and see the pictures.  Amazing stuff....and the best part....is that government had nothing to do with its creation and was not even aware of its existence....until you guessed it...the tax man came calling.  Death and taxes...

2007 Deer Season - by Mark | November 20, 2007, 09:50:09 PM
Well...my family's annual trip to Siren, WI for Thanksgiving and deer hunting is underway.  This year I was lucky enough to bag a pretty nice 8 point buck the second morning of the season (Sunday).  Here is a picture of the beast.  The deer are all real thick this year after a bumper crop of acorns.  My buck is already getting processed into yummy meat, and I even paid 100 bucks for a European mount, which is where they bleach the skull and horns and then mount it to a nice piece of wood.

Unbelievable EVIL - by Mark | November 09, 2007, 06:43:24 PM
The perpetrators of this mass slaughter are pure evil.   Meanwhile "liberals" are worried about what terrible thing President George Bush did this week.

59 Schoolchildren Killed in Afghan Blast

KABUL, Afghanistan (AP) — Dozens of schoolchildren and five teachers were among those killed in a suicide attack in northern Afghanistan earlier this week — the country's deadliest since the fall of the Taliban — the government said Friday.

The 59 schoolchildren had lined up to greet a group of lawmakers visiting a sugar factory in the northern province of Baghlan on Tuesday when a suicide bomber detonated explosives.

"Freedom fighters" (aka Taliban, Jihadists, and/or Al Qaeda) who slaughter innocent children.  Perhaps God (Allah) told them to do it?  The world has gone completely insane.

Some good news about Kim - by Mark | September 04, 2007, 07:33:43 AM
The nurse called just a bit ago and finally we got some good news.  The doctor evaluated Kim this morning and her temperature was normal finally.  The doctor also told Kim, that she would probably be released from the ICU after her colonoscopy, assuming her temperature stays down and she continues to respond well to treatment.

UPDATE:  Well....Kim is slowly getting better.  She had her colonoscopy, and apparently she either has Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis, or irritable bowl syndrome.  Kim is still in the ICU, but she is getting better.  The doctors do not think she is infected....which is very good news, but we will not know for sure for a few days.  Her insides are pretty messed up though and it will take her awhile to heal completely...she will be in the hospital at least for the next few days.  The doctor said she should be moved out of ICU by tomorrow morning.  Thanks for all the kind words and prayers.

Kim is in the Hospital - by Mark | September 03, 2007, 01:50:16 PM
Well...looks like I get to fend off the children by myself for a couple or few days.  Kim is in the hospital until further notice.  She has been having some pretty severe stomach problems for about  a month now, and I finally convinced her to go to the ER.  Turns out she has colitis.  The nurse said the earliest she will be sent home is tomorrow.  Here's hoping Kim recovers quickly....at least being in the hospital will give her some rest from her home full of boys.  I will post an update once I know more.

UPDATE:  I just spoke with Kim on the phone and she says she is starting to feel better.  Apparently when they first admitted her she had a 106 degree fever.  She said that is back down to "low grade" fever now.  Hopefully it is just a matter of time for the medicine to work at this point.  Wyatt is getting ready to awake from his nap and he has starting coughing the last couple of days....so pretty soon I will likely have at least two sick family members to take care of. Sad

UPDATE 2:  The nurse says Kim is pretty sick.  Her fever is down to 103 degrees and her blood pressure is quite low.  Kim will have a colonoscopy tomorrow afternoon which should tell us how bad she really is.  I will be saying extra prayers tonight with Wyatt at bedtime. Kim is a pretty tough girl, but it is still kind of scary having her in the hospital like this.

UPDATE 3:  Well...the family went to visit Mommy in the hospital...Kim is stabilized in the ICU now, and her blood pressure is almost back to normal.  That certainly is good news, but I am a bit bothered because the nurses do not really seem to know what is wrong with her.  They think the colonoscopy tomorrow will give us more information.  In the meantime, I am praying Kim is not septic.  It is possible this is somehow related to Jesse's C-section birth...perhaps a stray gauze strip inside her or something.  Should know more tomorrow afternoon.  Kim's Grandparents are coming up tomorrow to help with the children and provide some emotional support.  Daddy and Mommy will appreciate that, and I think Kim will like having her Granny around for emotional support.

UPDATE 4:  After feeding the children this morning, I called Kim's ICU nurse to see how she was doing.  Basically, she has not gotten any worse...but she is not any better either.  I will be dropping off the children later this morning to the baby sitter and then go off to the Hospital to visit with Kim.  Should know what is going on later this afternoon after the colonoscopy.  I slept terribly last night.
