Best Summer Movie Ever - by Mark | August 06, 2006, 12:18:25 PM
I guarentee this will be a HUGE summer blockbuster.  Samuel Jackson and "Snakes on a Plane"....what else could you possibly want in a movie?

Pulp Fiction star Samuel L. Jackson was so amused by the title of new movie Snakes On A Plane, he signed up without reading the script. The movie features an assassin who intends to kill a passenger on a flight by releasing a batch of deadly snakes. Jackson explains, "I didn't even read the script - I just saw the title, 'Snakes on a Plane' and said 'Ok, good. I'm there.' You have got to love that. That's exactly what it is - 500 poisonous snakes released on a flight from Hawaii to Los Angeles. They are (set free) on a time release half-way there, so we can't go back, we've got to keep going. It's fun!"

Clerks II - by Mark | August 05, 2006, 11:40:38 PM
I went and saw a late night showing of Clerks II.  I was really impressed.  10 years has gone by since the original Clerks was released and Kevin Smith did not disappoint me one bit.  The movie was pretty vulgar, actually, I think it was far more vulgar than the first one.  But the thing I love about Kevin Smith is the vulgarness in Clerks is key to the character development.  Dante and Randall have such an interesting dynamic.  In Clerks II, Dante and Randall have been friends nearly their whole life.  The really do love eachother (not in a gay way, as Randall would say), and Dante was planning to move to Florida to start a new life and leave Randall behind.

What I find interesting about their relationship is how important each of them is to the other, especially considering they spend most of their day berating eachother.  I think that is what true friends do for eachother....give eachother lots of grief, because it is our friends who ultimately know us better than we sometimes know ourselves.  I have had my fair share of Randall/Dante relationships in my life, and although they can be tiring, true friends are always there for you, especially when you are on the verge of going astray.

For the reviewers who failed to see the point of the vulgarity and disturbing scenes that will not be mentioned....you missed the entire 'message' of the movie.  Especially considering that Kevin Smith's friend, Jason Mewes, has been through so much, and Kevin has never given up on him.  And Jay's 'transformation' was a very funny recurring theme throughout the movie.

Of course...it could just be that Kevin meant the movie to be another....fart, dick, and joke movie.  Either way, I was very pleased to see Dante and Randall trading insults 10 years after we first learned of the Quick Stop.  Thank you Kevin...the movie was loads of fun and very sentimental.

PS.   Jay....Keep it together man....and oh yeah you look like a circus seal, noodge. Tongue

Batman Begins! - by Mark | November 17, 2005, 08:44:44 AM
For the last year, I have been horribly disappointed with the quality of Hollywood's movies.  Most of the recent movies released have had a terrible plot, cookie cutter special effects, and poor acting.

Lat night Kim and I sat down to watch Batman Begins.  This movie was simply amazing.  I would wager it to be the best super hero movie in the last 10 years at least.  The acting was top notch, the visuals and special effects were amazing, and the story actually had a convincing plot leaving me absolutely riveted.

The most amazing special effect was during the sequence that Batman sprays the bad guy "Scarecrow" with his own psychotropic poison.  The director showed the effects of the poison from the perspective of the Scarecrow.  The Scarecrow under a fit of psychosis induced by the chemical sees Batman as a very disturbing almost demon like figure.  Combined with Batman's deep voice and the overall lighting of the scene, it was a very disturbing, riveting, and great movie scene I will never forget.

I do not understand why this movie did not do better in the theatres.  I wonder if the large number of recent bad super hero movies, left some people unwilling to give this movie a shot.

In any case, this Batman Begins is easily the best movie I have seen in 1-2 years.  I suggest everyone go rent and watch this movie....you will not be disappointed.

I give this movie 5 BIG THUMBS UP!  Hooray Hollywood got at least one film right this year.
